According to Deloitte’s State of AI in the Enterprise report, about 60% of workers are now equipped with sanctioned AI tools, a 50% increase from 2024.
However, organizations are not necessarily harvesting the potential gains just yet. The real-world business impact is increasing, with 25% of respondents saying AI is having a transformative impact in their organization—not a huge proportion, but double the number who said the same last year. Instead, many organizations are seeing productivity gains, but 37% of respondents said they are “only using AI at a surface level with little or no change to underlying business processes.” Only 30% of organizations are “redesigning key processes around AI.”
The report noted, “Success with AI will likely hinge on achieving strategic differentiation and lasting competitive edge, which means using AI to reimagine what is possible for the business rather than optimizing what already exists.”
Respondents indicated there has been little impact on the workforce so far, with 84% of companies saying they have not redesigned jobs around AI capabilities. Instead, education was the top way companies have adjusted their talent strategies due to AI, potentially recognizing that the AI skills gap poses the biggest barrier to integration.
